2016 Kawasaki ZX-10R launched in India

The 2016 Kawasaki ZX-10R has been launched in India at Rs 16.4 lakh. This new model has been given a host of technological and aerodynamic updates inspired by Kawasaki’s WSBK-spec race machine.

While it might not look strikingly different from the previous model, Kawasaki has majorly upgraded the underpinnings of the ZX-10R to give it an edge over its rivals. Kawasaki claims that the revised chassis, powertrain and the electronics package along with the aerodynamic updates have made the new model faster and a better handler than the outgoing model.

While the 998cc inline four engine has the same bore stroke numbers, it gets quicker throttle response and better power delivery throughout the rev range. The aerodynamic updates on the other hand, provide better high-speed stability.

The 2016 Kawasaki ZX-10R gets Bosch’s five-axis IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) sensor which detects various undulations and camber to adapt to the road conditions. It also gets launch control, cornering ABS, a quick shifter, upgraded traction control and engine braking assistance.

The Kawasaki ZX-10R can been booked for a token amount of Rs 5 lakh. As the ZX-10R is imported as a completely built unit, it takes around 25 days for the motorcycle to be delivered. The ZX-10R competes with other litre-class superbikes like the Yamaha YZF-R1, Honda CBR1000RR and the Suzuki GSX-R1000.
