BMW Launches 7 series in India

The German luxury car maker BMW launch its all-new 7 Series luxury sedan in India at the Auto Expo 2016. The sixth generation of new BMW 7 Series has been improvised in the areas of design, powertrains, chassis, operating systems, intelligent connectivity and interior ambience. The new BMW 7 Series models are lighter by up to 130 k. The car is available in various powertrain combinations in the international market.


BMW 7 Series comes with several engine options to choose from. One of those is a 3.0-litre oil-burner that has the latest common rail fuel injection technology. It comprises of six cylinders and 24-valves, which displaces 2993cc. It also has two turbochargers that help it to pump out a maximum power of 258bhp at 4000rpm in combination with a commanding torque output of 560Nm at just 1500rpm. Coming to the petrol variants, the ActiveHybrid trim is equipped with a 3.0-litre petrol engine with same V6 layout like its diesel counterpart. It has a high pressure direct fuel injection technology, with the capacity to displace 2979cc. This variant is also integrated with a 40KW electric motor, which pumps up to the total power and torque output to 354bhp and 500Nm respectively.


The diesel train, which is integrated with a common rail direct injection system, delivers a peak mileage of 16.46 Kmpl on the highways. Of the petrol mills, the ActiveHybrid edition is bestowed with a combination of V6 petrol mill and a 40KW electric motor. It can yield a maximum mileage of approximately 14.7 Kmpl, which is quite good.


The high end petrol mill has a 6.0-litre plant can belt out a mammoth power of 544bhp at 5250rpm along with a commanding torque of 750Nm between 1500 to 5000rpm. Meanwhile, the 730Ld versions come with a 2993cc mill, which unleashes a power of 258bhp at 4000rpm along with a commanding torque output of 560Nm at just 1500rpm.
